Chris had a Dr appointment yesterday. (he had a CTscan on Friday). The dr found no tears or anything. It looks like it is indeed just arthritis :( Which the doctor proceeded to tell Chris there was nothing he could do for him yet (not until he is older). And that he was just going to have to live with the pain. Chris obviously was not very happy about this. He also will not be able to be medically released and so...at this point the plan is to stay in Houston, he will continue to go to school for Biology and when he is done with his bachelors we will move on to Med school. Until med school he will continue working as a police officer. I have very mixed emotions about this. I almost feel relieved we are staying (mostly because of the pregnancy and not having to worry about insurance, finding a new dr, and trying to move when VERY pregnant), but at the same time I am sad for Chris because I know how badly he wanted to go back to BYUI and I am sad I wont be able to graduate in April. But! I only have 4 classes left, I will take 2 of them next semester and then the last two I will take as soon as they are available :) I will finish one of these days.
Chris also talked to his Lieutenant last night about what was going on. His Lt. basically told him to take an easy and not try to do as much during his shift (which Chris HATES that idea) and that maybe it would be a good idea for them to put him with a partner for his own safety. One because it will force him to slow down because no one works as hard as Chris (his stats show that and everyone at the station knows it, he does about 3 times the amount of work as the other officers). And two because Chris's knee hurts to the point that he chased after our dog 100 yards the other day caused him to limp the rest of the day :(
In May Chris will have the opportunity to switch his position (he was locked into his first station and patrol for a year). He is going to try to get on with Juvenile Sex Crimes as an investigator, this will allow him more time for school work and won't be as hard on his knee. I just worry because I know how much he likes coming home and telling me stories from his day, not sure I want to hear about the sex crimes...at least right now most of the stories are just about the funny things the drunk guys do. Like the drunk guy that they thought spoke Spanish, but didn't respond when they tried talking to him in 2 different languages and finally looked at the officers and in perfect English said "What the F__ are you saying!"
As Chris was talking to his Lt about the possibilities of switching to that division he expressed his concern that he had heard that a lot of the divisions wouldn't take new officers, they wanted officers that had been on at least 3 or 4 years. The Lt told him to shut up! That any of them would take him because of his stats and how hard he worked and that if that's where he wanted to go he (the lt) would personally make sure that he got a spot. Chris asked how he was going to do that and the Lt. told him that he knew a few guys over there and that the Captain also knew how hard Chris worked and would probably be willing to help him out too. Its nice that Chris has such a good reputation! :)

I have to say I am totally thrilled that you will still be in Houston! I'm sorry that Chris is not so excited about his job though. Maybe something will come up that will get him excited about his work. I sure hope so. It is great that he has no tears in his knee but arthritis is no fun either. Hopefully Chris can learn to live with it however.
Grandmother- Chris is not unhappy with his job, HE LOVES his work, he is just concerned about the safety issues of the job due to immense pain in his knee. He does NOT like the University here, or at least not the criminal justice side...personally I think it is just because it was a lot of political talk and a lot of the professors had different views from Chris and were not willing to allow other views/opinions in. But I think he wont have the same problem in Biology and will enjoy it more.
Oh, I know, Stephanie, that he loves the police work but not so much the desk, I've heard. I can't say as I blame him on the college liberality issues. I'd feel exactly the same way he does. So nice talking to you earlier today! Love you!
That's awesome that everyone knows how hard Chris works. :) But he does need to take it easy!!
I'm glad y'all are staying in Houston. It will be so nice for you to stay with Dr. Hulme.
