Potty Adventures

...more like carpet adventures...don't worry I have a good carpet cleaner handy.
We are using the Potty Training in Three Days or Less method
Day 1 (Wednesday Aug 25): Sat on the potty every 5 minutes (her choice, not mine) incredibly still managed to pee EVERYWHERE but in the potty. After a few #2 accidents on the carpet I decided I had had enough for the day. Plus I wasn't feeling very well. More or less, I was not ready for Potty training. So we put on a diaper.

Day 1 again... (Friday Aug 27): So far so good, just loaded her up with lots of juice... A little pee on the carpet, she panicked ran away from the puddle. I directed her to the potty where she successfully went to the potty! YAY! I was so excited, pretty sure she thought I was crazy!

WHOA!

This morning Savannah decided to stand up in her chair and then preceded to sit back down, only problem was the chair wasn't where her bum was going. From across the kitchen I said "WHOA WHOA WHOA!" She corrected it, sat down and a few minutes later I hear, "whoa whoa whoa!"
Guess I better be careful what I say from now on, Repeat is always around.

Josie Folsom DeLoach

Saturday evening my sweet GREAT Grandmother passed away. While this is very sad for those of us still here on earth, I couldn't help but imagine her happy reunion with her husband who passed on 14 years early, her daughter Betty Jo and her sister, Aunt Jean who passed on only a few short months ago, and other family members who passed on before.
When my little Savannah was born I insisted on going to Florida to get a 5 generation picture. As soon as we could we (my mom, grandmother, myself and Savannah) all went to Florida to see my Great Grandmother (Josie). I am SO thankful we were able to do so.

I only have a few memories of my Great Grandmother since most of my time spent around her was when I was very young. But I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity I had to get to know her.
Probably one of my favorite memories while we were there was when she passed by the bathroom when I was straightening my hair. She gave me a funny look and said "You are straightening those beautiful curls" I said yes, and asked if she wanted me to straighten her hair. She laughed and said "NO!" I will never forget the sound of her voice.
Then one night she was cutting carrots to go in a soup for dinner. I came in and started snatching up a few carrots to nibble, while Grandmother teased me about stealing the carrots Great Grandmother said "They are good, aren't they!"
While we were there she decided she would crochet a pair of baby booties for Savannah. It only took her a few hours to make them! I was so impressed. It was So sweet of her to make them and leave something here for us to remember her by.

OOPS!

Savannah jumped off the potty before she was done. As she was walking out of the bathroom, in the nude, she peed right where the carpet started! She ran from it yelling "ew ew ew" I was dying laughing!!! She continued to say "pee pee, pee pee, ew!!!" in a very panicked tone. I only wish I had caught it on video.

Great Morning!

This morning Savannah and I ate our breakfast on the patio while watching the rain! We had a blast and Savannah LOVED it. She kept looking over at me and giving me her biggest cheesy grin. The one where she tilts her head back so all you can see is her chin, smile wide and eyes squinted! LOVE IT!

Then we planted our garden. Savannah likes to help me water it. She points to the dirt and says "EW!" (her new favorite word!)

PS

Some day when I either find my lost camera or can afford a new one this blog will have pictures again!

Screams of Terror

I laid Savannah down for a nap yesterday, everything had been quiet for over 30 minutes when I heard her screaming in terror! I thought for sure she had finally tried to climb out of her crib and had somehow hurt herself. Something that I know will come someday soon as her monkey climbing skills improve. However, when I got into her room I found her standing in one corner of the crib screaming and crying and pointing to an object on the other side of the crib. I look closer to find a dirty diaper she had taken off herself! I just pray she continues to be scared of dirty diapers, it's less messy that way!!!!

WHAT?!

Savannah and I were enjoying a beautiful afternoon, just waiting for the brownies to come out of the oven, when suddenly I hear a VERY familiar sound. I hold my breath!
IT COULDNT BE!!!
IT IS!
DDDDDRUMS!!!
Just when I think I've escaped the noisiest thing in the world it comes knocking at my door! A neighbor has drums! IN the apartment!!! Is that legal!? And poor Chris was trying to sleep. However, they are not as loud as they were when they were in the same house. THANK GOODNESS!!!
