Big Girl!

Yesterday we had a visit with the doctor! Savannah was having a grand ol' time. Until the nurse came in with the shots! The first shot Savannah got really stiff and then just before she stuck her with the second one she started screaming. I picked her up immediately after and it took all of 2 seconds for her to stop. The nurse was headed out the door when she realized she'd forgotten something on the counter. She turned around to get it and Savannah let out another loud scream, almost like a warning, "YOU BETTER LEAVE ME ALONE LADY!!!" The nurse left and Savannah was just fine. The doctor gave the ok for solids and suggested we get a sippy cup. So on the way home we picked up Savannah's first sippy cup. She loves it, except for when she bonks herself in the head with it, which she has done several times now!
Dallin wanted to try feeding her, after about 2 minutes he says, "Um, I think you better do this!"
She had it from ear to ear and up her nose! But she was enjoying Dallin's attention.

Lessons Learned

This morning I was thinking about all the things I have learned since having a baby of my very own. Here are a few of the ones I came up with:

1. A large box of pamper diapers cost $20 and lasts approximately 2 weeks
2. When wet wipes won't/can't do the job go to plan B: the bathtub
3. ALWAYS carry an extra set of clothes with you (both for you and the baby)
4. When at church if the baby starts to try to talk to you, don't shh them...they think you are encouraging their "fun new sounds"

Those are just a few that I've learned in the last week, I'll let you know when I am taught more!

Cute outfit Grandma sent

This was such a cute outfit that my Grandma sent for Savannah so of course I HAD to take a picture!

Blessing Day

Savannah's blessing day was VERY exciting. She wore my blessing dress and a pair of booties that Great Grandmother crocheted for her. She spent ALL afternoon crocheting them for her. It was very sweet of her and they are such a precious treasure for me to be able to tell Savannah about one day when she is bigger.

Florida Trip

So I'm finally getting caught up on my blog! GAH! School has kept me very busy! In May Mom, Savannah and I went to Florida to meet up with Grandmother and Great Grandmother to get a 5 generation picture. It was a very neat experience. I loved having the opportunity to get to know my Great Grandmother a little bit better.

The little travel bed Kassidee let us borrow. We set up Savannah's bed behind a chair to be out of the way, I thought it was pretty funny so I took a picture.

Recovering Chocolaholic

I first realized I had a problem when I went back into the kitchen to "hunt" for chocolate for the fourth time that day, even though I KNEW there wasn't any chocolate... I'm not sure how long I've been doing that, because I didn't realize it till just then when I was VERY frustrated that there was no chocolate and that I was looking AGAIN! That was about 2 years ago. I still do this occasionally but I usually stop myself before I go looking.
Well, I've decided I need to do better than just stopping myself from looking for the fourth time.

Last week while reading the talks from this last general conference I read something that REALLY stood out to me: "...addiction is the craving of the natural man, it can never be satisfied. It is an insatiable appetite." (Elder Hales)
At first I thought to myself ‘This REALLY stinks! You mean to tell me that I will never be happy with the amount of chocolate I eat.” Then my second thought was, “Ok, yeah its true.” After thinking about the ridiculous amounts of chocolate I can eat in one sitting, I realized I’m NEVER satisfied afterwards, I’m either sick or still wanting more chocolate! Those apostles sure know what they are talking about.
I don’t consider myself fat, however, if I continue to eat chocolate at the rate that I am I will be… especially since I just had a baby and I don’t have my “young girly figure” anymore.
SO! I am going to stop here and now eating so much chocolate. I don’t think I am ready to stop cold turkey; I have decided that chocolate is for special occasions only. AND that if I can’t control it I will just have to stop cold turkey and say NO MORE! I had a friend’s mom tell me that she no longer eats chocolate because once she started she couldn’t stop so it was just easier to just not start… but quite frankly the thought of NO chocolate at all terrifies me.
Because of my new goal (only to eat chocolate on special occasions) I ask that you do not send chocolate, bring chocolate over or tempt me in anyway! For you other chocolaholics out there, just check my blog, I'm sure some time soon I will be starting a support group!
After talking about chocolate so much I think I will go and get a chocolate chip cookie! Did I say I was going to stop here and now?? I meant tomorrow!
